Early Data Show Promising Results For The Monkeypox Vaccine

The results, which were gathered from 32 states between the end of July and the beginning of September, were some of the first government statistics to offer an indication of how well the Jynneos vaccine, the main injection being used to address the monkeypox outbreak, protects infections. According to the data, those who had not gotten a vaccination were 14 times more likely to get the disease than those who had.

At a White House briefing, Dr. Rochelle P. Daskalakis said anyone who may be at current or future risk is now eligible, including homosexual, bisexual, and other males who have sex with men; transgender or gender diverse persons who have had more than one sex partner in the past six months; those who had intercourse in a location with a greater risk of monkeypox; or those who have had a sexually transmitted virus identified within the previous six months.

According to Daskalakis, the vaccination program also includes commercial sex workers and partners of at-risk individuals.
