Spotify Develops a Rating Feature For The Podcast

Over the years, Spotify has provided a better music streaming platform to its users. The company has introduced new features for users with every update of the platform. After introducing the real-time lyrics feature and short video platform, the streaming service is launching a rating feature for the podcast section of the platform. On December 17th, the company revealed on the blog post, its five star-rating systems for the podcast to create content easily discovered by the new listeners.

The music streaming platform posted on the blog post that currently there are more than 3.2 million podcasts on the platform. The new feature of the platform provides users to support their favorite podcast networks and creates a two-way channel between host and audience. Tech critics compared this feature with the rating system of Apple Podcasts. Apple has already provided a rating system to scale from 0 to 5. The rating system helps the platform to compile the average scale of the podcast. This rating will be displayed on the display page of the podcast network. It has been observed that constructive remarks about the show can affect the popularity of the podcast. These listeners' reviews would be helpful for the new listeners to discover great content on their favorite subjects. Right now, Spotify is not creating a comment section for their rating system similar to Apple Podcast.

Spotify CEO, Daniel Ek stated that their company is hoping to grow their business into an informative and traditional streaming market. Spotify is sure about podcast services are the right substitute for the traditional radio services in upcoming years. The company goal is to replace traditional radio streaming with a live podcast format in the subsequent decade.

Along with the rating system, Spotify has also introduced the acquisition of Australian streaming service developer, Whooshkaa. This platform allows the simple radio broadcasting channels to transform their audio recordings into a format of the podcast. All of the company’s moves indicate their plans to expand their market in the live and recorded radio sector.
