The world's largest scenario database for safety of autonomous vehicle has introduced in China

The Safety Pool Scenario Database is a public database of scenarios for certifying, validating and testing fully autonomous cars.

Safety Pool Scenario Databases will assist road simulations including use scenarios from China, expanding the scope of such a global safety platform and encouraging the growing Connected And Autonomous industry, updating emerging regulatory norms, and improving the safety of millions of drivers around China and outside, due to this significant new major collaboration, which was announced on September 07, 2021.

Safety Pool Scenario Database is managed by Deepen AI and Warwick Manufacturing Group at the University of Warwick in collaboration with Automotive Data of China, a division of the China Automotive Technology and Research Center (CATARC). Automotive Data of China is China's primary automotive research and development organization, and it is at the forefront of the China’s connected and autonomous vehicle innovation and governance. Furthermore, CATARC-ADC is also a member of ASAM, ISO, UNECE, and other international bodies with global impact.

To be safe for the typical driver, autonomous vehicles would need to be tested on 11 billion miles of road, which is an unattainable goal in the physical world. The Safety Pool scenario-based simulations provide not only the required amount of testing, but also the quality and complexity of a wide range of real-world road scenarios.

Governments, business, and academics can utilize the database to analyze and assess Automated Driving System and utilize insights to drive policies and regulatory norms. The scenarios were created using an innovative hybrid method devised by Warwick Manufacturing Group at the University of Warwick, which combined data-based and knowledge-based methodologies to create the scenarios. The Safety Pool Scenario Database enables organizations to build scenarios in their libraries, work with other companies through public and shared libraries, and allow members of the community to contribute difficult real-world scenarios.

Deepen AI and Warwick Manufacturing Group at the University of Warwick have partnered with stakeholders all around the world since the project's commencement in March 2021. Around 200 companies have registered in the Safety Pool Scenario Database to date.
