Toyota Launches Urban Cruiser (SUV) in India

The Urban Cruiser is available in five color options such as Blue, Orange, Grey, Silver, and White.

On September 23, Toyota launched the all-new compact SUV, the Urban Cruiser in India, priced between US$ 11401.58 (Rs 8.40 lakh) and US$ 15337.84 (Rs 11.30 lakh). Booking for the Urban Cruiser has already started, customers can book the SUV with a token amount of US $ 149.93 (Rs 11,000) through Toyota's website or at dealerships. The SUV is based on the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. It will be manufactured by Maruti Suzuki, as a result of the Toyota-Maruti alliance. As per the agreement, Maruti Suzuki will supply its four models such as Vitara Brezza, Ertiga, Ciaz, and Baleno, to Toyota.

The Urban Cruiser is available in six versions; three variants and two powertrain options. Toyota has confirmed that deliveries of the SUV will begin in October 2020. The SUV will have the new front styling just like the bigger Toyota SUVs. Moreover, both the Vitara Brezza and the Urban Cruiser will share identical sheet metal, which means, except for bumpers, grilles, and other soft plastic parts will be the same. The SUV is powered by a four-cylinder, 1.5-liter petrol engine that delivers 105 hp of power and 138 Nm of peak torque, same as the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza.

The SUV gets a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an auto-dimming internal rearview mirror, cruise control, auto engine stop-start, automatic air-conditioner, push-button start/stop, and keyless entry. Moreover, the Urban Cruiser gets a monochrome MID in the instrument cluster, steering-mounted controls, power-adjustable wing mirrors, charging ports, and both front and rear seat armrests. The SUV is available in five color options such as Blue, Orange, Grey, Silver, and White. Dual-tone color options are only available with the top-spec variant. The Urban Cruiser will compete against the Kia Sonet, Ford EcoSport, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, and Tata Nexon.
