WhatsApp started Informing Users to update its New Policy

WhatsApp has been informing its users of its new privacy policy, which will come into effect on May 15 2021.

Early in February, WhatsApp revised its privacy policy, requesting users to approve the new changes by February 8, 2021. However, owing to the widespread public opposition to the new proposal, it has been delayed until May 15 2021. Users are now reporting on Twitter that WhatsApp is reminding them to accept the new rules. Several users took to Twitter to post screenshots of WhatsApp messages re-iterating the company's privacy policy, which it revealed in February 2021. WhatsApp appears to be telling its users that if they want to keep using the messaging app, they must update the new policy by May 15 2021. Another user shared a screenshot of a WhatsApp message in the 'Chats' tab that reads, "We're reviewing our terms and privacy policy." WhatsApp claimed that this all new feature will not change the privacy of a user's private chats or conversations. It also remind the users that the new policy will take effect on May 15, 2021, and the users must approve it to continue using WhatsApp. It is also possible to delete the notice without having to accept the regulation.

According to the Facebook-owned messaging service, the new policy is mostly intended for businesses using its platform, but if the policy is accepted, the app will be able to share user information such as phone numbers and transaction data. It also permits WhatsApp to exchange information with Facebook and its subsidiaries. If users do not approve the new rules by May 15, they will not be able to use WhatsApp completely until they do it. For a limited period, users will be able to receive calls and updates from the app, but they will not be able to read or send messages.
